It has now been a little more than a week since the Republican convention ended. But it seems like a month. The furor which erupted after the announcement of Sarah Palin as the running mate for John McCain continues unabated. Indeed, it grows with each news cycle. The Obama/Biden campaign has been shaken to its foundation and the MSM is grimly intent on self destruction. Each attack on Palin rebounds right into the attackers face whether it be Obama, Olberman or Charles Gibson. Even Oprah went over the cliff.
The stage is now set for the greatest political upheavel in the history of the country. How did this outcome occur?
When Obama refused the obvious choice of Clinton as his running mate, he signed his own death warrent. Instead he went with the most inconsequential gas bag in the senate who represents everything wrong with the entrenched status quo. I just can't think of anyone worse except maybe Robert Byrd. What a hoot that would have been. And so arrises the dominant issue of this election,
judgement!
The following morning after the Annointed One's acceptance speech McCain drops the bomb, Sarah Palin. The five days leading up to Sarah's acceptance speech were so filled with rampant speculation that nearly as many people watched her as watched Obama. She was superb! The following night more people watched McCain than Obama even though 4 of the 10 networks dropped the coverage.
I believe John McCain sincerely wants to reform Washington. But acting alone his efforts were futile at best and self defeating at worst, ie., McCain-Fiengold. To reform Washingon will take several consecutive conservative administrations and a like minded legislature. Surely this is an impossible task. Enter Sarah Palin. Sarah is an Anti-Obama.
Obama is a product of the most corrupt local political machine in the country and is a radical leftest schooled in the methods and theories of Saul Alinski . His rise to the top has been facilitated by destroying anyone who stood in his way. With Obama it has never been about issues but about power in and of itself. And with the accumulation of power comes an inflation of his ego evidenced by collosal arrogance. This is why he chose Biden who got 2,000 votes over Clinton who got 18,000,000. This is arrogance!
Sarah began her political career by signing up for the PTA so she could improve her children's school. She rose to power by her own unaided efforts to reform the corruption and inefficency in local and state government regardless of party. Her success is due to her absolute sincerity which resulted in an 80% approval of the citizens of Alaska and was obvious in her interviews with Gibson.
Now for the second and most elegant part of the strategy, The Fourth Estate is an integral part of any reform of Washington. It too must be reformed. They are directly responsible for insuring that the ruling elite maintain their power by controling information. They have no interest in presenting an objective representation of the facts. Gibson's interview with Sarah was a paradigm of the MSM's approach to her. I read a description of that interview as, "A college president interviewing the daughter of a trustee he didn't think was qualified for addmission". He completely squandered a glorious journalistic opportunity in order to curry favor with his colleagues and satisfy his own ego. Again, collossal arrogance. He had already written the story. The interview was a mere formality to dot the i's and cross the t's. But the result is a blatant display of sexism and biggotry that is obvious to anyone who is remotely neutral.
With the groundwork layed by Polosi, Reid, Fienstein, Boxer, Schumer, Durban, etc., resulting in a single digit approval rating of the legislature this coming election will be a watershed for the American political system.
